What You'll Get
With your kitchen's pots and pans inhabited by the evil spirits of dead pots and pans, cooking at home has become both time-consuming and spooky. Get quality cuisine without interference from crazed kitchenware with today's Groupon: for $9, you get $18 worth of food and drinks at Recipes in Farmington Hills. Though the inviting eatery is known for its breakfast, lunch, and brunch fare, Recipes recently added dinner hours Tuesday through Saturday.
Recipes' menu brings together classic diner breakfast fare, salads, sandwiches, and noodle dishes in a culinary harmony unseen since the California Raisins dominated the airwaves. Start your morning with something sweet, such as hot granola served with brown sugar and bananas ($5) or sticky buns with cinnamon butter and roasted almonds, served with cream cheese and apples ($4). If you are really ravenous, experiment with innovative egg dishes such as the California roll omelette with crabmeat, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese ($11) or the huevos de paco, a twist on eggs Benedict topped with chorizo, salsa, and pepper jack cheese ($9). Warm up lunchy tummies with a bowl of French onion soup ($4) or give a-rhythmic taste buds a tangy dance lesson with Thai chicken noodles in peanut sauce with mixed vegetables ($9). Those who prefer their cuisine bookended by bread can try out the juicy one-third-lb. cheeseburger or kick'n chicken breast sandwich with cheddar jack cheese and salsa ($8 each).
The down-to-earth eatery's fresh takes on classic diner fare are reflected in Recipes' decor. Simple white tablecloths and clean furniture lines are jazzed up with flowers and a Marie Antoinette impersonator—just like in mom's kitchen.
This Groupon is valid at the Farmington Hills location only.

Describing the cuisine at Recipes depends entirely on the time of day. When its doors open at 7 a.m., it's a classic breakfast joint with everything from biscuits coated in blackberry sauce to made-to-order meat and veggie skillets. Fixings like water chestnuts and chorizo crown the open-faced omelets, while crabmeat tops the eggs benedict smothered with housemade hollandaise.
But breakfast isn't the only reason Recipes has earned raves from publications like Detroit Free Press and USA Today. At lunch, Recipes takes on timeless delicatessen flavors by slapping smoked turkey and muenster cheese on rye and topping spicy grilled chicken with signature salsa. By night, the eatery focuses on Eastern flavors with several Thai-style entrees, including rice vermicelli tossed with marinated grilled pork and vampire-proofed with sweet garlic sauce.
