Red Clover Cafe at The All-American Valley General Store

Farm-to-table has a uniquely literal meaning for Kim Dulka, a fourth-generation organic farmer whose family started dairy farming in 1915. She now brings her old-fashioned culinary sensibilities to Red Clover Cafe, where a team of cooks creates seasonal meals using ingredients sourced locally in Connecticut.

On Sundays, diners can start their day here with a hearty breakfast of organic brioche french toast, free-range local eggs, and organic pastries made using local German recipes. Daily lunch and dinner options include steamed, grass-fed burgers and wild mushroom risotto. For dessert, housemade ice cream can be fashioned into a sundae or served alongside a slice of pecan pie—keeping things traditional, yet never dull. After putting your glass down for the last time, a stop at the onsite general store yields a chance to take home ingredients used in the cafe’s meals, including local honeys and jams.

They make you feel at home. Such a treat and a warm atmosphere. I had the chicken with salad, my friends had the sandwiches. We all loved the soup.
