About Red Fish
Chef David Friedman likes to keep things simple. Diners at the Fishbar veteran’s latest restaurant, Red Fish, notice only three or four ingredients in the menu descriptions of most dishes, with flavours such as paprika oil and black kale hovering lightly around ultrafresh, sustainable vegetables, meats, and, of course, fish. From arctic char to weathervane scallops to dashi-spiked shrimp 'n' grits, the bracing flavours of the sea come through in every seafood dish.
The Grid called Red Fish “an ideal date spot,” and the intimate dining room is full of cozy nooks perfect for a weathered old captain and his boatswain. Lanterns hung from chains, dark wood wainscoting, life vest–themed paintings, and nautical maps harmonize with an endeavour that’s all about the fish. In the summer, flower boxes and painted brick hedge in an airier sidewalk patio.
