What You'll Get
After 33 years as music director and maestro of the Redlands Symphony, Jon Robertson prepares to pass the baton with this special farewell concert, featuring acclaimed young soprano Angel Blue. "Robertson is a conductor who inspires confidence in a listener - his beat is utterly secure; his feeling for structure, unfailing; his overall manner, no-nonsense elegance," raves respected L.A. Times critic Mark Swed about the Jamaican-born maestro, who made his debut as a concert pianist at the tender age of 10. This meaningful evening kicks off with Beethoven's Leonore overture, and then Blue is set to sing Samuel Barber's nostalgic Knoxville: Summer of 1915. It all builds to an emotional climax with what Robertson calls his "parting gift ... the majesty of Mozart's Great G-minor Symphony."
There’s a pre-concert talk beginning at 7:15pm.
