FAQs
Is ziplining safe at Refreshing Mountain?
Absolutely! Every tour is led by two trained guides and backed by triple-inspected safety systems, including gravity-based brakes and a backup ZIPKea brake. Guests just hang tight and enjoy the ride—literally.
What’s the age and weight requirement for ziplining?
Riders must be at least 5 years old and weigh no more than 280 lbs. Kids under 60 lbs may ride tandem with a guide. Ages 12 and under need an adult (18+) with them, at a 1:3 adult-to-child ratio.
Do I need to be super fit to participate?
Not at all—just reasonably active! Participants should be able to climb stairs, walk uneven terrain, and carry about 20–30 lbs.
Can I bring a camera on the course?
Yes—if it’s secured! Cameras must be strapped to your wrist or safely attached to a harness. Just know: it’s an adventure zone, so bring gear at your own risk.
Should we tip the guides?
No tip required. The team is professional, friendly, and focused on safety—gratuity or not, they’ll take great care of your group.
What skill level is this adventure for?
The experience is beginner to intermediate—no prior climbing or ziplining experience needed!
Is this better for groups or solo visitors?
It’s ideal for small groups! Families, friends, and team outings will all have a blast together.
Any blackout dates I should know?
Yes—adventures aren’t available July 3–6 and August 29–September 1. Plan ahead!

About Refreshing Mountain Stevens, Pennsylvania
Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center was founded in 1983 upon the vision of Marlin and Sharon Harnish to provide a place where families could be refreshed. What began with two bunk houses and a stable on the grounds of a run-down horse camp has now blossomed into a facility that hosts hundreds of groups and thousands of individuals on an annual basis. ,
At Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center, our mission is to provide clean, comfortable, and safe facilities, where guests can be REFRESHED. We will focus on the background details like cleaning, foodservice, maintenance, and technical activities, allowing our guests to focus on the retreat programming that they create for their own event.
