Relish Culinary Adventures invites talented chefs, artisans, winemakers, and other culinary authorities to share gastronomic insights while helping guests learn the ins and outs of preparing meals crafted from local ingredients. On the Farmers Market to Table tour, epicurean explorers gather at Relish and then head to the Healdsburg farmers’ market to delve into the mysterious world of noshable heirlooms, vine-ripened vittles, and recipes hidden on microfilm. Relish owner Donna del Rey leads the lunch charge, joined by Dustin Valette, chef de cuisine at Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen, weaving in and out of farmers’ stalls with an eye trained on potential menu specials. Afterward, guests visit Chef Valette’s kitchen, where they can douse their mind fires with buckets of answers to questions about running a kitchen, sourcing ingredients, or correctly performing radish-mating calls. An all-hands salad preparation follows at Relish, with optional student participation and an enlightening presentation and wine pairing by a local winemaker.

The Beverage People introduce guests to the process, equipment, and sanitation lynchpins of cheese making during the homemade mozzarella class. In under an hour, deft hands stretch a gallon of whole milk into soft curds that reveal their flavor prowess when paired with heirloom tomatoes, olive oil, homemade wine, or cassette recordings of vintage-train whistles. After class, students practice hand stretching and molding curds and instructors sell kits to replicate the mozzarella magic at home.

From season to season, dedicated foodie and owner Donna del Rey works with chefs to alter the menus that fuel Relish Culinary Adventures' expeditions and classes. Special guests vary, including chefs Louis Maldonado of Top Chef and Spoonbar; Todd Knoll of Jordan Winery; producers from Bernier Farms, Twisted Horn Ranch, Preston of Dry Creek, and Valley Ford Cheese; and wine makers from Longboard, Kelley and Young, and Preston Vineyards.
