Loved the charter so much that we would do it again even without a Groupon.

It wasn't Rendezvous Charters....it was Spinnaker Sailing and they're the same corporation, same place. Loved Spinnaker Sailing! My boyfriend and took the 2 day course and learned a lot!!! Our instructor Dan Hogan was great!!! Even though we had light wind, he found things for us to learn and do!! Definitely a great find and buy!!!

What You'll Get

Sailing on international waters allows sailors liberties that can't be taken on land, such as marrying a video game, naming a dog a swearword, or rebroadcasting NFL games without the written consent of the league. Learn to go above the law with today's Groupon: for $185, you get a two-day keelboat sailing lesson from Spinnaker Sailing (a $375 value for nonmembers). Voyages begin and end at Pier 40 of the South Beach Harbor. Purchasers must have taken Basic Keelboat Sailing I in order to use this Groupon.

Spinnaker Sailing's lessons pit landlubbers against the watery challenges of the San Francisco Bay with comprehensive keelboat instruction. Under the watchful guidance of an ASA-certified sailing instructor, aspiring skippers build on the skills learned in Basic Keelboat Sailing I and embark on Basic Keelboat Sailing II, where they learn essential lessons such as engine operation, tacking and jibing, and how to dress for the job you want with stylish parrot accessories. Aboard the 22–27-foot keelboat, a team of four students and an instructor will spend most of the time on the water, building confidence on the bay's surface, while covering topics such as sailing vernacular, boat safety, knot philosophy, steering, wind patterns, and more during the course of two consecutive six-hour days. Completion of this course will certify sailors at the Basic Keelboat level by the American Sailing Association, meaning they may now freely use "ahoy" and "matey" in email correspondence.

Class meets on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on the second and fourth weekend of every month, with weekday options available upon request, giving both 9-to-5 professionals and weekend freelancers the opportunity to learn their ports, starboards, and man-overboards. Sunscreen and warm clothing is recommended and students should refrain from wearing black-soled shoes, which leave unsightly marks on the pristine boat deck. Pupils are encouraged to bring money or food for midday lunching, therefore avoiding the time-consuming task of spear-hunting kelp sandwiches.
