No matter how many shared hobbies, interests, and experiences two people have, their faces will never be exactly the same. Celebrate the self-establishing element with today's Groupon. For $49, new clients get a Premier Facial at ReNew Organic Skin Care, a cozy studio taking top honors in 2007 from Baltimore City Paper, and from Baltimore magazine in 2008.
Unlike adjustable ball caps and universal remotes, some things are best one-size-fits-one. The Blue Zero of skin-care treatments, the Premier Facial is completely customized to your skin's needs and features handmade products and high-quality ingredients, such as exotic oils, clay, honey, herbs, and more. After an initial skin analysis, expert aesthetician Shelley Birnbaum will deep-cleanse and exfoliate your skin using concoctions crafted during your session or an organic alpha hydroxy acid, enzyme, or vitamin C peel on face and neck. The 60- to 75-minute treatment also includes an optional lip scruffing to smooth out pouts; an arm and hand massage; extractions; a handmade customized mask; and a stress-relieving face, neck, and shoulder massage. Patients leave polished and glowing thanks to the application of a serum, moisturizer, eye gel, lip balm, and SPF.
With more than 18 years of experience, co-founder and skin-care guru Shelley Birnbaum created ReNew to offer the area a personalized beauty boutique fueled by all-natural, non-toxic products. Baltimore's first holistic retreat, ReNew's green touches are evident everywhere, from its interiors with eco-friendly paints to its earthy and enthusiastic aestheticians. ReNew offers services by appointment only, so call ahead to schedule services.
Baltimore magazine called ReNew one of the best spas in the city and included it in its Best of Baltimore 2008 feature, while Baltimore City Paper named it Best Spa of the Year. Holistic Local raved too.

Parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, and genetically modified ingredients don't belong in any of the skincare products used by master aesthetician Shelley Birnbaum. Driven by a passion for eco-friendly practices, as well as a dedication to providing effective spa treatments, Shelley decided to only stock and employ balms and salves made from organically derived materials. But she wasn't content to merely vend these products—she began making them herself.
Along with her ReNew Botanicals Organic & Vegan line, Shelley draws on a handful of other trusted brands to naturally treat a wide range of skincare concerns. Her facials soothe complexions and address signs of aging with such earth-loving components as grape seed oil, olive leaf powder, and odes addressed "To That Really Nice Field." Many of her treatments are vegan, ensuring any client can stop by for a refreshing pick-me-up.
