We can thank the boastful Arnold “Lightning” Spokesminister, inventor of the two-wheeled bicycle, for introducing “Bike while the iron is hot” and “Lightning never bikes twice in the same place” into the popular lexicon. Heed his words of wisdom with today’s Groupon. For $19, you get a bicycle tune-up (a $45 value) at Reser Bicycle Outfitters in Newport, Kentucky. Up to five Groupons can be purchased per person.
Managed and mechanicked by an ultra-friendly, knowledgeable cabal of pedal-pushers, Reser Bicycle Outfitters prides itself on providing quality service while educating customers on proper bike maintenance (lesson #1: don't whip it with a riding crop). Their thorough tune-up adjusts the brakes, derailleurs, hubs, headset, and bottom bracket. They'll also perform a minor truing on the wheels and properly align the derailleur hanger. Additionally, all bolts are checked for tightness, and the chain is lubed into a slick, motion-dispersing bike backbone. While they wait, customers can also browse Reser's wide selection of comfort- and speed-improving components that’ll outfit bikes with head-turning style.
The joys of riding a bicycle are many and beloved by many. Smells that are dulled to undetectable levels by four-wheeled transit are vibrant and piquant from the fresh-air perch of a bicycle seat. The scenery of the country or of the city—its quaint alleyways, pleasant byways, and digressive by-the-ways—comes to life in a colorful panorama of shops, sidewalk folk, hidden trails, birdsong, and rushing green trees. Reser Bicycle Outfitters will tune bikes so that they effortlessly roll over obstacles such as loose gravel, slow joggers, and "nut mines" laid by anarchist squirrels. Use today's Groupon to transform your dusty ride into a lubricated, pedal-propelled road rocket in time for spring.
Reviews
Commending its wide array of products and brands, as well as its friendly and knowledgeable staff, eight bikers on MTBR enthusiastically give Reser a perfect 5 rating across the board:
- This is a riders shop. The guys (and ladies) eat, drink and sleep bikes…When anyone is looking for a bike, Reser Bicycle Outfitters is the first place I tell them to go. – Uptick
- Even though Reser carries the most high end product and delivers the best service in the area, I've seen him and the staff be just as nice and helpful to kids walking in just needing a $5 innertube for their flat tire. – Swade
- They carry a wide range of road, mountain and bmx bikes, along with every conceivable type of accessory, trainers, lights, shoes, clothes, etc. If they don't have it, you don't need it. – thewatchtech

About Reser Bicycle
When Jason Reser isn't pouring his energy into advocating for cycling paths, he's sprinting between customers at his Newport shop, Reser Bicycle Outfitters, which was named one of America's best bike shops by the National Bicycle Dealer Association in 2013. At his store, which earned also a Second Best Bike Shop award in CityBeat, despite being located in far off Kentucky, he leads a team of spirited cyclists, proficient technicians, and SICI-certified fitting whizzes. Inside customers will find a plethora of road-, mountain-, city-, and kids' bikes, and the zenith of cycling, the omni-terrain Pugsley. The technicians service all makes and models in onsite repair shops, treating bicycles with everything from basic tune-ups to major overhauls to unproductive psychotherapy sessions. They also measure customers and frames at no more than 40 points to complete custom fittings.
In addition to sales and service, an onsite cycling studio offers coaching by Dr. Kathy Cunningham of Athlete Inside. After training or while you waiting on service, customers can enjoy a cup of Joe at the shop's full-service espresso bar, Trailhead Coffee.
