The Revue has occupied its Roncesvalles Avenue location since 1912 and is one of the oldest continuously running movie theaters in the country. For the past year, the Revue has undergone a transformation to inspire film lovers and their loyal community supporters, alike. This restoration was funded by a Trillium Grant from the Ontario government and by many contributors, event attendees, volunteers, and donations.
The Revue Film Society, a volunteer run, not-profit corporation, operates the cinema along with a dedicated staff. The Revue team strives to support their community, inspire a love of film, and seeks to bring diverse content to their big screen. The Revue is a cultural hub of the neighborhood, a little theatre with a big heart. Today, with its signature art deco marquee and Edwardian-era design features, Revue Cinema once again bustles with activity as guests file in to catch the latest flicks and unique events. In addition to its ever-changing movie lineup, the theatre hosts a variety of special programs, including an ongoing exploration of silent films.
