Held at the historic Alabama Theater, Naughty or Nice artfully blends dance styles from ballroom to break-dancing into a singular performance. Doors open December 3 at 6 p.m. for a pre-show featuring local artists, vendors, singers, dancers, and more. Throughout the event, a cash bar will be serving refreshments and after the show, people are open to socialize, dance, count the digits of pi, and participate in silent auctions. There is also a goods drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, with anyone who brings in a donation receiving one free group dance lesson.
The two dance lessons will be held at Rhythm N Motion’s dance studio in Hoover. Their adult classes, which welcome dancers of all experience levels and backgrounds, include hip-hop fusion, ballroom, and burlesque strip aerobics. Burn calories and mold muscles with burlesque strip aerobics, a total-body workout that emphasizes fun, flirtation, and fitness set to old-school jazz music (no clothes are shed in the class). Ballroom 101 classes teach new techniques every week, regularly featuring the social swirls and shimmies of the tango, hustle, waltz, and foxtrot, and you don’t need a partner. Classes are one hour and are generally held on weekday evenings; click here to see the schedule.
Rhythm N Motion has received a ton of coverage on local television, including an appearance on CBS 42 for 2009’s Naughty or Nice” Show:
Vulcan Performers Naughty or Nice CBS42 Dec 2009 Rhythm N Motion from TJ Zito jr on Vimeo.
