About A Chat with Rica the Artist

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
With a background including formal training in theatrical makeup, as well as glamour and skincare, licensed and trained at a Paul Mitchell School, Rica is versatile as a makeup artist. Refusing to give "cookie cutter" looks, Rica tailors every bit of her application & training to her client's needs.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I had been a Mary Kay Consultant, and led training sessions for fellow consultants and their guests. I had so many clients asking me to do their makeup, I threw in the towel and got my license! Now, I serve my clients fully - training, stocking their vanity and taking care of them on special events!

What do you love most about your job?
It's fun to do the editorial work, and fantasy makeup, where clients are transformed into conceptual versions of themselves or characters, but nothing brings me more pleasure than seeing a client gasp when they see the beauty I've always seen in them, and they feel beautiful - by being themselves.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
I had a teen who had been called ugly, and worthless, burst into tears when I stripped off all the makeup, refused to give her the "Kardashian" look, and asked her to trust me. I just made her look like herself, just enhancing her natural features. They were tears of joy.
