Scientific studies regularly show that couples who share feelings, similar interests, and an airtight alibi often prove more compatible in the long run. Show your significant other you care by sharing today's Groupon: for $45, you get a three-hour Date Night photo class for two at Richard Stromberg's Chicago Photography Classes (a $90 value). Classes take place Saturdays at 5 p.m.; participants may supply their own DSLR cameras or borrow one for the class.
Richard Stromberg helms his self-named photography studio with five decades of teaching experience and more than four decades of industry-sharpened know-how. Three-hour date-night classes kick off with a wine-and-cheese mixer hosted inside Stromberg's WithInSight Gallery––a collection of photographs captured by some of the more than 25,000 students that have graced his classroom. Next, fledgling photogs learn to decipher the numbers, abbreviations, and hieroglyphics marked on personal or borrowed DSLR cameras, learning to manipulate the controls to craft clearer pictures or fuzzily camouflage any background grease fire.
The final hour of class revolves around a question-and-answer session, during which professionals opine over the best cameras and equipment to help students in future photographic forays. Each class corrals between four and ten couples, ensuring individualized attention as well as enough bodies to form an impromptu flag football team.

About Richard Stromberg's Chicago Photography Classes on Ravenswood Avenue
Richard Stromberg is so dedicated to teaching the art of photography that he's held class during a freezing blizzard, a blistering heat wave, and while he was confined to a wheelchair after surgery. Richard brings his fierce dedication and 45 years of photography and teaching experience to his school, where he leads a variety of photography classes alongside a dedicated staff of volunteers. Within spacious classrooms, the seasoned instructors guide students through the techniques of DSLR photography, from basic camera operation to tips on starting up a studio. In addition to mechanics and fundamentals, they also encourage their students to see the world in new aesthetic ways, helping them recognize the beauty of a sunset or the fogged-up monocle of a sensitive millionaire. The dedicated staff can often be spotted at the school before and after class hours helping students work on assignments in the lighting studio, the darkroom, and the expansive computer lab. Twice a year, they showcase pupils’ work in their onsite WithInSight Gallery.
