Competition-winning teachers and actively competing college-age athletes educate beginners in the foot- and bladework of fencing

Fencing is America's favorite sport because it combines the visceral excitement of swordplay with the stylish outfits of beekeeping. Fight fashionably with this Groupon.

Choose From Three Options

  • $20 for two beginners’ fencing classes (a $40 value)
  • $35 for four beginners’ fencing classes (an $80 value)
  • $199 for one week of fencing summer camp (a $400 value)

Skillful fencing depends on a coordination of the limbs, a skill that students learn in beginners’ classes. Instructors focus on the development of basic footwork, slowly pairing it with simple bladework used for offense, defense, and counter-offense. The skills taught apply to both the foil and épée styles of blades, and can be taught to students aged 6 and older.

Alternatively, summer camps provide kids aged 9–18 with instruction from college-age competitors who construct fun activities designed to improve footwork, teach sportsmanship, or master important techniques and tactics. The camp goes all day, so participants should bring their lunch with them. Richmond Fencing Club provides all uniforms and equipment, and hosts both classes and summer camps in their air-conditioned fencing facility.
