A college professor’s in-class role-playing exercise spins out of control in the thought-provoking drama Class Act. When Rebecca, a sociology professor, seeks a class volunteer to portray a hard-luck prostitute as part of the exercise, her young, conscientious African-American student Kai is happy to oblige. But when Kai’s performance in the role proves to be surprisingly realistic, it sets in motion a string of unintended consequences, forcing both women to take a hard look at what it really means to give voice to society’s most marginalized members. Atlanta’s Rising Sage Theatre Company presents this compelling new work at West End Performing Arts Center.
