People and slices of tiramisu can only safely journey through a sea of rushing water when perched inside a boat. Float safely with today’s Groupon to River and Rock Adventures, located in Lotus. Choose between the following options:

  • For $47, you get a half day of whitewater rafting on the lower south fork of the American River (up to a $95 value).
  • For $57, you get a full day of whitewater rafting with lunch on the middle fork of the American River (up to a $145 value).

River and Rock Adventures' experienced guides help whitewater rafters traverse the three exciting and challenging forks of California’s American River. The Class-III south fork is ideal for first-timers testing the waters, and the Class-IV middle fork keeps intermediate paddlers on their tippiest of toes. Floaters on the popular lower south fork trip, also known as The Gorge, will journey through 14 miles of beautiful scenery and legendary rapids. After taking off from the base camp in Rivers Bend Resort at 11:30 a.m., rafts will pass through a relaxing stretch of Class II rapids as the Sierra foothills taper off to give the river a rocky hug. Photographers will be present to catch flashes of adventurous heroism and poorly timed nose picking while rafters swirl around in Class-III whitewater before the 2.5-hour tour comes to an end.

Those who opt for the full-day trip through the middle fork will start their eight-hour venture at 7:45 a.m., quickly jumping into a Class-III rapid with more kick than 20 ounces of coffee resting on a donkey's back. After negotiating through the Class-V Tunnel Chute, a 15-foot wide, 90-foot long channel of whitewater, and gently swayed through peaceful flat waters, paddlers will refuel by devouring a scrumptious lunch on the river’s scenic banks. The 18-mile adventure will finish up with a series of adrenaline-injecting Class-IV rapids and a safe detour around the Class-VI Ruck-A-Chucky Falls, where boaters can admire the flowing water while singing about sticking to the rivers and the lakes that they're used to.
