What You'll Get
Similar to hanging out with a younger brother and his friends, drinking wine is an activity that sometimes makes people believe they’re funnier, smarter, and 2 feet taller than they actually are. Prolong the illusion with today's Groupon to River Bend Winery. Choose between the following options:
- For $20, you get $40 of eclectic American eats and wine from the dinner menu.
- For $10, you get $20 worth of eclectic American eats and wine from the lunch or Sunday brunch menu (brunch only available at the Middletown location).
Nestled into a historic late-19th-century building, River Bend Winery offers an eclectic mix of American fare augmented by wines forged on-site at the downtown location. Hail hungry mouths with the chef's selection of artisan cheese and fruit on the sweet-tasting tray ($9), or nibble the mushroom tarts topped with rosemary, thyme, and parmesan ($9). Main attractions on the dinner menu include the slow-roasted pork osso buco in a red-wine-tomato sauce ($16).
The Southern-inspired lunch menu provides tongues with a delicious escape from bitter water-cooler gossip with hearty sandwiches and salads, such as the Southwest barbecue chicken salad with black-bean-and-corn salsa bouncing on a bed of romaine and topped with chimichurri ranch dressing ($7.95) and the roasted-squash panini ($7.95). On Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., River Bend Winery's Middletown location sates in-between meal cravings with a scrumptious brunch that includes corned-beef hash ($6.95) and buttermilk pancakes ($6.95).
Patrons can reunite their feast with its long-lost love by drinking a glass of wine, including chocolate or pomegranate varieties. Wines on the extensive libation list have been fermented in barrels on-site at the downtown location for utmost freshness and maximum protection from rogue Donkey Kongs. For best availability, visit River Bend Winery Monday through Thursday, as it tends to get a bit crowded on the weekend. Also, menu items vary by location and may change seasonally.
As of 6/30/11, River Bend Winery has permanently closed its Shelbyville Road location, and its 10th Street location is temporarily closed for renovation. River Bend plans to re-open its 10th Street location sometime this fall.
