Hi LeeAnn, We offer two trips. Our full-day trip is for experienced paddlers only. No small children. You must commit to 11-16 miles of paddling, approx 4-6 hours of paddling time. There are NO take-outs on this stretch of the river. 24 hour reservations required. Check-in time for full-day trip trip is 9-9:30am weekdays - 8:30-9:30am weekends. Our half-day trip is for all skill levels and is 5 miles of paddling approx 3 hours of paddle time. For half-day trip check-in is 10:30am-1:30pm. You must be back from both trips by closing time 5pm weekdays - 6pm weekends. There is plenty of time to stop, picnic, swim, fish or simply enjoy the wildlife.

Hi Felicia, The offer is for one canoe. However, on weekdays you may upgrade to a double kayak for $10. If there is availability on weekends this may be possible, but the kayaks usually sell out in advance.

Q:

What qualifies as an experienced paddler for the full day trip? I have been on several river trips, where I have paddled through and experienced class V rapids, would this constitute a experienced paddler? Thank you :)

T Z.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Hi TZ. Paddling and self rescue skills to get you through some areas with swift water, tight turns and boat eating log jams.No breaking white water per say. Class V non guide skills will come in handy....I think you will be fine. In the spring a little more pushy if you flip in trees, but easier to navigate when more water volume. You need to have back country awareness, meaning the first 11 miles is very remote and you will need to be independent. Be able to read the river a little and turn you boat quickly...as well as not too panic if you flip. There's a more thorough description of the trip on our website.

When is the earliest we can use the coupon. We will be in the area Sat Jan 9th this year.

Roy E.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Hey Roy. We open up for the season as early as April and run trips through September. During the winter months the river conditions can be unsafe and unfit for paddling. Kind Regards.

Can you go from Healdsburg to Rio Nido? How many hours would it take by Kayak?

John F.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

Hello John. Our company operates on the upper Russian River from Alexander Valley down into Healdsburg so we have limited knowledge on the time is takes to run down river. I do know that you can kayak from Healdsburg to Rio Nido. I hope this helps! Kind Regards - Tess

Q:

We are seniors with some arthritis. Comfortable in the water. Would the 1/2 day work for us, ya think? Thanks so much.

Nancy P.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Hi Nancy...our half day trip is very mild...though it is not a float in some sections. THERE IS A RIVER VIDEO ON OUR WEBSITE. You will be navigating your boat around over hanging trees etc. Getting in and out of your boat as needed. We cater to seniors regularly...I think you will be fine. Hope to see you this season. Lollie
