Riverside Wildlife Center
Although it's only a 50-minute drive from St. Louis, Riverside Wildlife Center is a world away. The US Department of Agriculture–licensed indoor and outdoor facility houses more than 400 wild animals, ranging from some of the world's largest cats to exotic birds. Led by volunteer tour guides, guests can stand 4 feet away from lions and tigers to meet them nearly face-to-face or snap photos of the center's 9-foot alligator. They can also hold, feed, and play with dozens of other creatures, including baby alligators, frogs, snakes, and turtles.
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the four of us had a great tour! There are big cats, emu, reptiles, etc. The animals are well cared for and the staff is very knowledgeable. There is a "hands-on" part of the tour that is fun. We are 2 couples over age 55 and had a great time. But "kids" of all ages that enjoy a variety of animals will have a great time!
