In the Victorian era, people made their cores look tight by wearing corsets, which doubled as bulletproof vests during pistol duels. Strengthen your core until it's naturally impervious to bullets instead with today's Groupon: for $15, you get one specialized fitness class (a $39 value) at RockIt Body Pilates, which has two locations—Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. As an added bonus, Groupon purchasers are eligible for an intro special of one unlimited month for $149.
RockIt Body's workout combines Pilates, cardio, and strength training to achieve quick, visible results. The low-impact, high-energy classes burn fat and tone muscle without bulking up like a professional baseball player or punishing the joints like jumping into the unfilled swimming pool that sits at the base of the Eiffel Tower. Classes include programs such as RockIt Body Pilates, which incorporates cardio work, strength training, and energetic music into the core Pilates posture work, and RockIt Barre, which fuses dance, cardio, ballet barre work, and light resistance into a seamless sculpting program. Energetic adults can take fitness time machines to their youth in the RockIt Recess class, a high-intensity circuit workout that burns serious calories with playful playground-worthy exercises such as squats performed while spinning a weighted hula hoop or lifting kettlebells while pretending to be X-Men.
RockIt's dedicated staff works hard to keep the challenging classes fun, positive, and highly addictive, handing out helpful advice, reinforcement, and cans of Flurme. Owner and founder Judie Aronson, an actor who has to stay fit for roles, started RockIt Body Pilates to help people stay fresh with their workout routines.
Yelpers give RockIt Body Pilates a 4.5-star average rating:
- Classes are fun, challenging and it doesn't take long to start seeing results. – Rebecca V.
- I sweat from beginning to end and drink an entire big bottle of water before the 50 minute class is over. Surprisingly, it works your entire body: legs, abs, arms, back, shoulders and I usually can't move the next day. – Alexandra E.
RockIt Body Pilates
As a working actress, Judie Aronson was always working out. She moved from one workout modality to the next, but it wasn’t until the fitness devotee came across a fusion of Pilates, cardio, and strength training that she knew she’d found an exercise formula that wasn’t only effective, but engrossing. Wishing to share her discovery with the community without investing in a 20-ton megaphone, Aronson opened her RockIt Body Pilates studio, which garnered a plethora of enthusiastic press, including the accolade of Best Workout Trend and Best Personal Training 2011 from Southbay magazine. She and her team of trainers introduce clients to dynamic, challenging, and fun workout sessions that target a variety of muscles using specialized Pilates equipment.
RockIt Body's two locations, in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach, have become successful enough to garner commercial attention from a television camera. Aronson's many clients have included Bill Engvall, who used the studio when preparing for Dancing With the Stars, and Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni, who is now a trainer at RockIt Body Pilates.
