What You'll Get

Contrary to what one might assume, rock climbing is not the opposite of rock tumbling, though it is still inadvisable to enjoy both activities concurrently. Learn to tumble upward with today's deal: for $49, you get a one-month membership, gear rental, and intro class at Rocks and Ropes of Tucson (up to a $119 value; students have a lower membership cost). Climbers under 18 must have a legal waiver signed by a guardian or hilariously mismatched cop partner played by Samuel L. Jackson, and all climbers must sign a legal waiver.

Each membership at Rocks and Ropes' Armory Park location includes one month of all-day admission to the man-made mountains, equipment rental (shoes, chalk, harness, helmet, tiara), and an intro class in finger grips and proper foot placement. The colorful and expansive climbatorium boasts a main area with 50 top ropes and enough routes to satisfy climbers of every level, a dedicated lead cave, and a range of walls, from straight vertical walls to 45-degree overhangs. As a member, you'll enjoy admission to exclusive members-only hours (Monday through Friday, noon to 3 p.m., except school holidays and summer), as well as first-name relationships with the gym's staff and designated dungeon master.

Rocks & Ropes was listed on Tucson Lifestyle's Best of the City 2010 in the Family Fun category, and Tucson Guide named it one of the 101 Things To Do in Tucson.

  • Maybe you’ve seen Cliffhanger too many times, or perhaps you’re just one of those folks who started scaling whatever was handy while you were still in your crib. Either way, from toddlers to seniors, Rocks and Ropes can help you get your climb on. Beginners can learn the intricacies of the equipment and practice on their “rock walls” with trained professionals. – Tucson Lifestyle
