In its 10th-anniversary season, the Saint Louis Ballet artfully presents the Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet, a timeless tragedy about forbidden teenage lovers struggling to keep their relationship intact because of their feuding families. Led by Saint Louis Ballet's Tiffany Mori and Alberto Rodriguez, the cast tiptoes under the guidance of artistic director Gen Horiuchi, former principal New York City Ballet dancer, and choreographer for the opening ceremonies of the 1998 Nagano Olympics. The choreographed cavalcades, set to melodious ear-pleasers composed by Sergei Prokofiev, gracefully capture the passionate tale of youthful love, familial grudges, and tragic miscommunications that could have been avoided with a simple text message. The two-hour performance is paused for two 15-minute intermissions.

Both the parterre and orchestra seats embrace audience members on the ground level of the 1,600-seat Anheuser-Busch Performance Hall. The up-close orchestra seats enhance the on-stage symphony of muscular prowess, while the parterre seats, located near the back of the house, grant fans of dance a panoramic view of the stage, the house lights, and the rolling sea of posture-variant onlookers.
