Growing up in Pakistan, Alia Zahid learned a lot about how to cook her country's native foods. So after 20 years of living in Connecticut—and a lot of encouragement from her brother-in-law, who loved her recipes—she decided to introduce her style of cooking to the Manchester community. At Ronak Restaurant, she's built a menu of Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Indian food that's flavored with bold combinations of sauce and spice.
One popular dish is the chicken tikka, which is roasted in a clay oven with a marinade of yogurt, lemon sauce, and spices. Vegetarians clamor for the palak paneer, a creamy mixture of homemade cheese cubes and freshly ground spinach. Just as beloved are the meal's accompaniments—samosa appetizers can be stuffed with seasoned chicken or cumin-spiced potatoes, and specialty breads include a paratha layered with chicken and cheese. Ronak Restaurant also offers a dinner buffet all-you-can-eat dinner buffet during Ramadan.
