What You'll Get
Although it’s been ostracized by the five traditional senses, the sense of humor is the only thing that enables human beings to detect a rubber chicken creeping up from behind. Stay on guard with today’s Groupon: for $1,499, you get a private party and a comedy-show package at Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club in Sunnyvale (up to a $3,365 total value). The package includes:
- Room rental, including use of the stage and professional light and sound systems (up to a $600 value)
- Catered buffet dinner for up to 30 people (a $1,050 value)
- Up to 100 drinks (up to a $1,000 value)
- Comedy-show admission (up to a $540 value)
- Food and liquor tax (a $175 value)
For more than three decades, Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club has been splitting sides with a schedule of guffaw-sowing comics, earning it the SF BayList's Best Place to Laugh Till You Cry title for two years running. Up to 30 guests older than 21 feast on a catered buffet, wet whistles at the full bar, and laugh the night away during a private party; additional guests, up to 150 attendees total, can be added for $50 each. Before the curtain lifts and doors open to the public, guests are free to use the stage and the lighting and sound systems to deliver toasts, lead birthday songs, and organize golden-anniversary rap battles. Once the theater doors open and all piñata pieces have been swept out of the way, party guests take the best seats in the house for a touring comedy show. Upcoming performances include Top Gear's Adam Ferrara, Mike E. Winfield of The Office, and boxers who guarantee pun-free punch lines.
Before the show, gourmands at Savory & Sweet pile platters high with laugh-fueling cuisine. Sun-dried tomato and garlic speckle pasta pomodoro, grilled tri-tip bobs into horseradish cream, and pomegranate- and orange-glazed Moroccan chicken skewers arrive ready to cross mouth-roads. Roasted red potatoes, homemade rolls, and a salad of baby greens accompany the entrees and promise to laugh at all their jokes, and cookies and brownies sweet-talk their way onto plates. Meanwhile, bartenders pour up to 100 beverages from a drinks list that includes 10 martinis, more than a dozen beers, and an orchard's worth of California wines by the glass.
