Getting out of the house is often hampered by the fact that most houses are located inside a bigger and fancier house. Step outside of the house outside of your house with today's Groupon: for $6, you get one ticket to the Rosewood Crawfish Festival (an $8 value if bought online in advance or a $12 value if bought at the gate), which will take place on Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Drive and South Holly Street. Admission is free for kids age 12 and younger.
The sixth-annual Rosewood Crawfish Festival ushers attendees toward crustaceanary nirvana with 5,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish and satisfies the yearnings of hungry eardrums with a sonic buffet of live music. The festival’s main stage begins resonating with riffs starting at noon, and the second stage strums into action half an hour later, providing a pleasant distraction for the multitudes of crawfish that might otherwise become disgruntled, form a government, and join the United Nations. Tunesmith Will Hoge takes the main stage at 5 p.m., followed by rock troupe Eve 6 at 6:10 p.m. A kids’ area featuring face painting, crawfish races, rides, and inflatables entertains underage attendants and their entourages of elders. Although today's deal does not cover the cost of cuisine or other purchases, famished festival-goers can fuel their revelry with traditional cajun fare such as boudin, crawfish etouffé, and jambalaya, as well as peruse the wares for sale in the Artist Village.
