Much like ill-mannered in-laws, ghosts often show up uninvited, walk through your newly spackled walls, and scream uncontrollably when you say their name three times into a mirror. Experience safer family fun with today's Groupon: for $7, you get one ticket to the two-hour Roswell Ghost Tour in Roswell (a $15 value for adults, or a $10 value for kids).

Interweaving Georgia's Civil War past and paranormal present, the Roswell Ghost Tour channels the charm of the Deep South and the ambling spirits of the undead into a one-mile tour through Roswell's haunted history. Tour operator and head guide Dianna Avena wrote Roswell: History, Haunts and Legends and, along with her husband, has been spotted dishin' on apparitions in a number of radio and television shows, most notably an episode of SyFy's Ghost Hunters. These active spectral spies helm a legion of learned guides who will lead the wannabe-spooked through a two-hour tour focused on real-life frights. Along the way, you'll scope out the paranormals who still reside in gorgeous Antebellum and Grand Greek mansions such as Bulloch Hall (home of Roswell's founding family), the former mill at The Bricks, the Civil War burial ground at Founders Cemetery, and the Confederacy’s favorite Dairy Queen. Since Roswell's passionate phantom phollowers believe that the spooky tales shriek for themselves, they pride themselves on leading a tour devoid of phony accents, costumes, scary flashlight faces, blood-curdlingly bad Crypt Keeper puns, and other ghastly gimmickry.

The Roswell Ghost Tour recommends that you bring flashlights, umbrellas, comfy walking shoes, proton packs, and insect repellent. The event is not recommended for restless small children, who may get tired from all the walking or are already jaded by crummy Casper sequels.

About Roswell Ghost Tour LLC

Many of Roswell, Georgia's oldest residents refuse to leave. Their spirits still wander the halls of antebellum mansions and take really long lunch breaks in abandoned mills. Even the town's founder, Roswell King, can't keep still in his grave at Founders' Cemetery. Those are just some of the tales that make groups shiver during walks with Roswell Ghost Tour's paranormal investigators.

These guides take the world of the paranormal seriously, focusing on tales that came from local residents, business owners, and even past tour attendees. Their expertise has even been tapped by media outlets including the Syfy channel, which featured investigators Joe and Dianna Avena on an episode of Ghost Hunters. The lack of goofy costumes or accents doesn't mean that they won't incorporate an element of fun, though. In fact, some tours even stop for cocktails at a local bar.
