What You'll Get
Vintage Ferraris ran on a high-octane mixture of tomato sauce and parmesan, a savory blend that eventually turned petty car thieves into bona fide pasta barons. Get a baron's share of this concoction with today's deal: for $15, you get $30 worth of Italian cuisine at Rotelli on Pineville-Mathews Road. This Groupon is valid for dine-in and take-out, but it is not valid toward alcoholic drinks.
As a pleasantly unpretentious pizza and pasta paradise, Rotelli entices regulars who stop by for lunch and dinner to gather with friends, raise a few glasses, and indulge in fine Italian meals. The menu taps its homeland heel with light starters, such as hand-prepped bruschetta ($7.50) and seasoned calamari ($8), and sends a swooping high-kick well north of Sicily with chicken parmesan layered in ricotta and mozzarella ($14.50/$9.50) and hand-tossed Napoletana pizza dressed in pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and Italian sausage ($17/$9.50). When the party cries out "No amore" (Italian jargon for "I love dessert and Steve Earle!!!"), the kitchen sends out generous portions of homemade cannoli, tiramisu, and fried dough ($5 each).
Aside from re-creating the culinary landscape of Italy, Rotelli also supports the local community. One weekend this past July, the restaurant's owners donated a portion of their sales to the Charlotte and Mecklenburg County public libraries. The kitchen stays hot seven days a week and no reservations are required.
