About Rub's Backcountry Smokehouse
The meats are smoked over a hardwood fire. The chips are kettle-fried and smoked in-house. The brioche buns are grilled over wood, too. It's clear that Rub's Backcountry Smokehouse prefers to do things the old-fashioned way. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, and sliced brisket can be piled high on a sandwich or ordered à la carte, and sides such as truffled macaroni and cheese, meaty smoked beans, and custard-filled cornbread are made from scratch each and every day. But pit master Jared Leonard isn't content to just serve the best barbecue in his log cabin of a restaurant—interested parties can sign up for one of his BBQ 101 classes and learn to forsake electric- and gas-grilled meats at home.
