Russo's New York Pizzeria and Wine Bar
At first glance, it's hard to believe that Chef Anthony Russo opened his first restaurant at the tender age of 18. That is, until you hear about his upbringing. Growing up as the son of first-generation Italian immigrants, Anthony has been surrounded by Italian cooking his entire life. He helped his father at their family restaurant as a boy, and he also picked up skills from relatives visiting from Sicily and Naples. Given that backstory, it's no wonder that he opened his own restaurant early and that it was a resounding success.
Since then, Anthony has helped develop Russo's New York Pizzeria and Wine Bar into a franchise with multiple locations across the South. These fast-casual eateries specialize in New York–style pizzas, brick-oven calzones, and fresh pastas. Customers can choose from predesigned pies such as the Manhattan, which comes complete with italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mozzarella, or they can customize their own from a range of fresh toppings.
