Russo's Shoe Repair
A good cobbler can tell what's wrong with a pair of shoes by looking at them. A great cobbler can tell what's wrong by listening to them.
"When a woman walks in the door ... I hear the nails tapping on her heels," says Russo's Shoe Repair owner Christopher Russo in a promotional video he produced. "They walk in thinking ... 'You can't fix them now,' [but] I take them off her feet and fix them in about five minutes or less."
Quick, reliable repairs are one of Christopher's specialties. He aims to fix things on the spot whenever possible, and schedules rapid turnaround times when he can't. He's also known for his preventative repairs, particularly sole guards, which are thin layers of rubber affixed to soles to help prevent permanent wear. They come in a variety of colors, including a shade of red inspired by the soles of designer pumps.
Though he works quickly, Christopher prides himself on the quality of his work. He guarantees every repair, promising to redo them for free if a customer isn't happy with the results or if he gets caught in some type of time loop. As a bonus on Fridays, he sometimes performs complimentary shoe shines.
