The story of Rustic Ridge Vineyards begins in 2002, when Rusty Beatty discovered Jamul Valley of East San Diego and purchased the breathtaking property that the winery currently resides. Captivated by the views and the potential in the soil, he planted an orchard of pomegranates, citrus, apples and more—never imagining that it would one day become the home of a vineyard.
Years later, Kerri Kohles Morrison came into the picture, bringing with her a warm and charm rooted in her Southern Texas upbringing. Together, they began experimenting with grapevines, discovering that the region's granite-rich soil and coastal climate created ideal conditions for growing wine grapes.
What started as a shared hobby soon blossomed into a family-run winery rooted in hard work, hospitality, and a deep love for their community.
