Q:

Hi, how do we get the $10 upgrade. there is only option to buy the $15.

ym  asked on  Nov 29, 2012

A:

Good question. You email the railroad at info@sierrarailroad.com or call the railroad at 800-866-1690 and tell us that you want to upgrade to gold seating. If you get our voicemail be sure to tell us your name, date & time of your trip & # of guests you want to upgrade. Please don't wait till the last minute since seating full trains is tricky! Depending upon your method and the timing we will either collect the fee then or when you check in for your trip. You will pay the railroad directly - it was too tricky looping Groupon into this upgrade. By the way, the difference is that with silver you'll be seated in the Coach or Club cars while gold service is our two dining cars. The first two cars are fine, but people often prefer the dining cars so we charge a bit more for them.

Q:

How can I change date after the purchase?

otaki  asked on  Nov 29, 2012

A:

Yes, you can change the date. You can do so by calling the railroad at 800-866-1690 or emaling us at info@sierrarailroad.com. There is a $5 fee per ticket to make a switch. This hasn't been allowed in the past but we decided to do that with this promotion since we know things come up. You need to give us 3 days advance warning on switches.

Q:

I purchased 4 tickets for the 12/1 ride at 12:30 p.m. I completed my transaction and it did not give me the option to pay the additional $10 per ticket for a booth. I would like to secure a booth. What process do I need to go through to make that purchase?

Donna  asked on  Nov 30, 2012

A:

You pay the upgrade fee when you are redeeming your Groupon.

Hi Donna. I'll be doing your check-in tomorrow and I'll see you then. You need to contact the railroad in advance at 800-866-1690 or emaling us at info@sierrarailroad.com. We thought about including this with the initial purchae but there were just too many options on too many dates. We would prefer to handle the upgrade fee in advance to simplify things but we're also open for you to pay that day, but it is important that you make your request in advance since it is hard to move around people on full trains. - Chris

Q:

I just got on and would like to buy tickets is there another way to buy tickets since it is sold out, or a waiting list? Thanks, Candice

candice s.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

Hi Candice, Plenty of tickets are still available at non-discounted rates on most dates. If you can't find what you want via groupon try the railroad at www.sacramentorivertrain.com.

Q:

I tried buying 3 tickets for my family and it says I am limited to one. Does that mean 1 ticket gets a family in, or do I have to order this 3 separate times?

Virginia R.  asked on  Dec 2, 2012

A:

The most common reason is that the trip is about to sell out. You can buy groupon tix and then get more at regular price through railroad at 800-866-1690, or find a different date that isn't selling out its' groupon tix.

Q:

Is the $10 upgrade per person or party? I plan to purchase 5 tickets can all five (with a 2year old child) sit together in one booth?

Donna  asked on  Nov 29, 2012

A:

Hi Donna, It is $10 per ticket for a $50 total for your 5. We have 2 booths per row so we would most likely seat you at 2 booths opposite each other. You could easily chat back & forth across the aisle. Some of our booths, frankly are spacious enough to squeeze 6 adults so you might be able to squeeze together at one booth.

Q:

So where does the ride start? does it go back to the same location?

Alejandra B.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

All trips begin & end at their Woodland boarding location.

Sammy T.  from  Groupon  replied on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

The exact address is 341 Industrial Way in Woodland. Parking is free. Check-in is at our large tent. After the 2-hour show & train ride, we'll bring you back to you car. We will get back approximately 2 hours after the posted show time.
