Experienced chef helps the clients learn how to prepare dishes like pad thai, chicken curry, shakshukah, and more during online classes
Shankari's love for eating and reminiscing about food started very young. She comes from a large extended family and every celebration was a reason for a lot of cooking and a lot of food. Many a conversation involved food. They always had piping hot food that was cooked from morning through dinner. Breakfast involved discussions about the lunch menu and lunch involved asking what was for tea and dinner at night. Yes, food obsessed. No wonder, her love for food and cooking.
Her earliest memories are of waking up to the sound of the kettle and her mother tapping the lid of the coffee filter. The ting, ting sound that stainless steel lid made was our wake up call for strong, fresh coffee made café au lait style.
She truly missed her mom’s home cooking when she left home. Take out never compensated and she called home asking for specific recipes to recreate the memories and taste of her mom’s food. She tried to replicate recipes from her memories of when she would sit on the counter and watch her mother cook. She also bugged her sister at work (so she says) for recipes and methods of how her mom would prepare certain dishes. She tried to replicate dishes that she had with friends when eating out. Thus, began a lifelong passion that has endured.
She has been sharing her love for cooking through classes past 12 years. She offers cooking classes in Sacramento and surrounding areas. She also give guest lectures to the culinary students at The American River College every semester.
She loves to eat and travel her way through different countries and she invites you join her in this culinary journey.
