Choose Between Two Options

The nautical camp teaches young adults ages 12–18 the fundamentals of sailing while instilling fundamental life lessons. The full-day session combines classroom lectures, sailing on the water, and simple duties, such as coiling rope and washing boats' hulls.

  • $79 for a two-hour sailing course for two adults (a $250 value)

During the two-hour course, ASA-certified instructors lead pairs through the fundamentals of safety and navigation before taking to the waters of Lake Erie to put their newly learned skills to use. Each visitor will have the chance to steer the boat and receives a $50 voucher to use toward future lessons.

Sail Buffalo Sailing School

From May to October, the white sails of keelboats dot the waters along the shore of Lake Erie. Onboard, head instructor Captain Pierre Wallinder leads the ASA-certified staff of Sail Buffalo Sailing School in a handful of courses to demystify the art of navigating by wind. Watchful instructors help students earn their basic keelboat certification, explore the nuances of the lake's waters, or learn to properly recite passages from Moby Dick from the bow of a ship. Tender-footed youths can take part in nautical day camps that teach kids both the basics of sailing and fundamental lessons in teamwork and organization.
