What You'll Get
Today's side deal gets you a ticket to the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra for the Friday, June 11, performance of Schumann's Spring Symphony at the Ordway in St. Paul. Choose from one of the following seating options:
- $20 for a section-one mezzanine ticket (a $48 value) on Friday, June 11, at 8 p.m.
- $10 for a section-three balcony or gallery ticket (a $24 value) on Friday, June 11, at 8 p.m.
The season finale of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra comes to a dramatic Deutschlandic conclusion, with a showcase of classical German music spanning three centuries. Join conductor, ivory tickler, and SPCO artistic partner Christian Zacharias, who has conducted both the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonic orchestras, as he begins the evening with an elegant performance of Piano Concerto in D Minor by C. P. E. Bach. Zacharias will then resume vertical posture to conduct Schumann's Spring Symphony, a piece composed from Schumann's fast-flowing heart and mind during his honeymoon period with pianist wife, Clara Wieck. Enjoy this evening of joyous classical music, and attend the SPCO before the offseason starts.
For seating questions, please contact the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra ticket office at (651) 291-1144. You must call the ticket office before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, to reserve seats.
- Thursday's performance was at its most compelling during the quietest sections of those Adagios, when violinist Steven Copes sent his rich tone soaring above the light plucking and sighing descants of the other players. – Rob Hubbard, Pioneer Press
- …the musicians created a performance of wit and infectious high spirits. – William Randall Beard, Star Tribune
