Sake Bar Kushi takes its name both from the popular Japanese spirit made with fermented rice and from kushi—wooden skewers speared with savory meats. Diners sip from a menu of 40 different fine sakes, perfect for pairing with torched unagi eel or plump gyoza dumplings. Guests can also pinch morsels of dragon roll sushi or beef teriyaki between chopsticks, or competitive diners can sword-fight with skewers of grilled meatballs, sausage, bacon, and cheese.
Sake Bar Kushi was excellent and had it not been for my Groupon I never would have thought about going there. Although it is far from where I live it is worth the trip. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, the service was nothing short of outstanding and the ambiance and decor were as close to authentic Japanese as is possible in Toronto. The prices are higher than your run-of-the-mill Chinese or Korean sushi restaurants but this is not at all run-of-the-mill and therefore, well worth it. My friend and I highly recommend Sushi Bar Kushi...we will be back. David

Sake Bar Kushi is Toronto's best little secret! I was pleasantly surprised to taste such authentic Japanese food and experience the wonderful Japanese culture. You won't get this unless you travel to Japan. The service was five-star. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful restaurant in my neighbourhood.
