- $6 for $9 worth of Middle Eastern cuisine, valid Monday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<p>
Since 1990, the chefs at Salam have been crafting authentic Middle Eastern cuisine from ingredients plucked directly from the farmers' market. Heaping servings of hummus—voted the best in Chicago by Chicago's Best on WGN—adorn fresh slices of pita bread from a menu punctuated with vegetarian and meat-laden dishes such as falafel, ground beef-laced kibbeh makliah, and chicken shawarma. At the original location on Kedzie, framed portraits of the Chicago skyline mingle with paintings of Middle Eastern landmarks in a cozy, softly lit dining room.
