What You'll Get
Having frizzy, unkempt hair can make you appear disoriented and unhinged during job interviews, first dates, and shouting matches with the neighbor’s bush. Keep it together with today’s Groupon to Salon Maia in Metairie. Choose between the following options:
- For $49, you get one Keratin Express Brazilian-style smoothing treatment (a $100 value).
- For $95, you get two Keratin Express Brazilian-style smoothing treatments (a $200 value). <p>
Wielding Keratin Express smoothing potions, hair dryers, and flatirons, the stylists at Salon Maia transform unruly frizz into smooth, shiny locks. The formula soaks into strands for 20 minutes, during which time guests can catch up on a book, admire the undulating layers of the salon’s modern pendant lights, or silently recite the names of TV’s fictional presidents. Stylists wash, blow-dry, and flat-iron manes to complete the sleekening ritual, which usually takes about an hour total. Clients can get their hair wet after 24 hours, and for the next six to eight weeks, strands will blow-dry straight in half the time without having to use a straightener or to sleep with hair pressed into a heavy book.
Some hair-straightening products that claim to be formaldehyde-free include aldehyde compounds, which are similar to the carcinogen formaldehyde. Side effects may include nosebleeds, headaches, vomiting, and respiratory problems, among others. Learn more about the health risks here.

About Salon Maia
Salon Maia owner Melissa Maia and makeup artist Kelly LeBlanc specialize in making brides' wedding-day visions a reality. The duo performs on-location, preceremony transformations and has collaborated on bridal showcases for New Orleans Bride magazine. Within the magazine's pages, Maia and Leblanc have offered tips for brides-to-be, such as trying out a variety of lipstick colors, deep-conditioning hair six weeks before the wedding, and securing updos with a hairspray that is specifically designed to repel rice.
Within the art-covered, bright blue and white walls of the salon itself, Maia and her team of stylists nourish clients' hair with high-quality products. They use the Pureology and Redken lines to cleanse, condition, and color, and the sought-after Agadir Argan oil spray treatment to repair and protect damaged strands.
