Salt Lake Comic Con
Whether flashing by in a blur of superhuman speed, teleporting from start to finish, or simply opting for a casual stroll, everyone who participates in the Salt Lake Comic Con's 2015 Utah Superhero Run will leave feeling like they earned the capes on their backs. The 5K takes place on the final day of Salt Lake Comic Con, just outside the convention center, as a fund-raising event for the Utah Specialty Hospital. Given the whiz-bang atmosphere, costumes are highly encourages; participants can dress up as their favorite superheroes, or summon the spirits of real-life heroes through Capes of Honor that call out loved-ones that have overcome struggle. The result: a spectacle of cape-flying and masked-wearing participants moving en masse through the streets and circling back to the convention center, where music, green-screened photo booths, swag bags, and costume prizes await.
For those who like to nail down at least two ambitious feats before lunch, the 5K is also part of an attempt to fly, dash, and bamf into the Guinness Book of World Records. A Guinness judge will be on hand as 5K participants and Comic Con attendees try to break the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as costumed characters.
