About San Antonio Swing Dance Society San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio Swing Dance Society has operated since 1999. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Our motto, "Preserving America's Swing Era". Our goal is to educate the public in a historical style of dance which began in the 1920's in Harlem. Likewise, SASDS offers a style of music from the 30"s through the 40"s which accompanies the style of dance in that period. Some of the music with be recordings from band leaders of that period or played by current Swing Bands. Our instructors are from the San Antonio area and most often started as dance students with SASDS. Several have attended Swing Dance events and classes nationwide. On occasion we offer workshops with instructors from across Texas and the US.
