What You'll Get
In its 2002 premiere, The Village Voice called Jean Isaacs' A Geography of Risk "a little masterpiece ... dense with dramatic symbols, its headlong duets and clear massed dances snapped like rubber bands -- fun, delicate, dangerous." Now Isaacs and her company, San Diego Dance Theater, are bringing this iconic dance work to the Saville Theatre stage at San Diego City College, along with the premiere of Requiem for an Ocean, a cautionary tale about the warming of our oceans that integrates original text by Meagan Marshall and aquatic-themed sculptures by local artist Arline Fisch. A third piece, created especially for pregnant company dancer Blythe Barton, will explore themes of memory and the wonder of new life.
