Malashock Dance is a troupe that showcases the beauty of bodies moving to music. Experience the magic of Malashock when its dancers share a stage with the San Diego Symphony during Music in Motion: Dance and The Firebird. A captivating ballet score from composer Stravinksy, The Firebird's groundbreaking fusion of fierce rhythm and energy with the strength of Russian folk music led to Stravinsky's international fame. You're sure to be blown away by the power and grace of these dancers. Named after John Malashock, its artistic director and choreographer, the company's created more than 70 dance and theater works over its 25-year history, becoming one of San Diego's premier arts organizations. Malashock himself is a former member of Twyla Tharp's New York company, and he's won six Emmys for his PBS dance specials. In addition to The Firebird, you'll also enjoy dance accompanying Gabriela Frank's Five Scenes, along with Ginastera's Harp Concerto, Op. 25 during this show at Jacobs Music Center.
