Quicksilver, an ensemble "revered like rock stars within the early music scene" (The New York Times), takes you on a musical journey back before the Classical period in The (very) First Viennese School. When Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II moved his court to Vienna in 1619, the great Habsburg city began drawing composers from across Europe, making Vienna a hot spot on the international music scene. In this concert at San Francisco's St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Quicksilver will perform the works of the great composers of this key transitional period, as well as bringing you pieces by lesser-known figures.
Antonio Bertali, Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli, Giovanni Legrenzi, Georg Muffat, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, Johan Kaspar Kerll and Johann Jacob Fux.
Program is subject to change.
