Sailboats will be the most relaxing mode of nautical transportation until scientists find a way to keep hammocks from sinking. Kick back aquatically with today's Groupon: for $28, you get a two-hour Golden Gate Brunch cruise or a City Lights Night cruise from the San Francisco Sailing Company (a $55 value). The Golden Gate Brunch cruise sets sail on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon, and the City Lights Night cruise takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The San Francisco Sailing Company unites passengers with the tranquility of open water and a view of San Francisco previously exclusive to local sharks. From the vantage point of a 41-foot classic sailing yacht, brunchers can admire scenic views of Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Crissy Field, and the Golden Gate Bridge slowly sipping on two complimentary mimosas or two glasses of champagne, beer, or wine. Evening toasters can check out the Ferry Building, the Bay Bridge, and AT&T Park while nursing two glasses of mimosa, champagne, beer, wine, or soda and basking in the glow of city lights that sparkle like a fairy godmother's toothy grin. All boats leave from dock C on Pier 39 in Fisherman's Wharf, near exciting North Beach.
The San Francisco Sailing Company
The San Francisco Sailing Company and the San Francisco Sailing School offer charters, sailing tours, and sailing lessons. They provide customers a chance to cruise the Bay as if on their own private yacht, or teach customers how to sail through their American Sailing Association certified facility. On a typical sailing tour, seasoned captains give passengers a memorable experience as they enjoy unique panoramic views of the entire Central San Francisco Bay. Tours pass the water front from Fisherman's Wharf all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, Aquatic Park, Alcatraz, The Bay Bridge and views of Sausalito, and Angle Island. In sailing lessons, students will learn theory and terminology, as well as spend the majority of the time on the water practicing maneuvers such as tacking and jibing. In two days of lessons, students are half way through Basic Keelboat certification.
