Purchased two types of soup -- they were very good and made with fresh ingredients.

The food at the Berkeley location was delicious, fresh, appetizing, and the servers friendly; the Oakland location not so much.

The food was average. The prices were way too high. My friend and I each ordered a half bowl of soup, and we split a half salad. We did not get drinks. The bill was $21.70 before Groupon. Ridiculous.

What You'll Get

Soup is like the grandmother of meals: warm, comforting, and enjoyable with or without teeth. For $5, you'll get $10 worth of soups, salads, and other savories at San Francisco Soup Company. Redeem your Groupon at one of 16 Bay Area locations.

Soup is the ultimate meal for equal-opportunity foodies, because every slurp disseminates the blended flavors to each taste bud without prejudice. A selection of handmade bowl-fillers, sandwiches, breakfast treats, and salads won't leave diners wanting for variety. Signature soups (from $4.84) include non-dairy, gluten-free, spicy, low-fat, vegetarian, and low-carb choices. Mop up a piping-hot bowl of organic smoky split pea, tomato bisque, or Mexican chicken tortilla soup with a complimentary tear of sourdough bread to ease your stomach through mid-week working pains. Soups are served in three sizes from 12 oz. up to 32 oz. Customize your own roughage at one of the new custom-tossed salad bars at the 221 Montgomery Street, UC Berkeley, 1950 University Avenue, San Francisco Shopping Centre, 315 California Street, or 580 California Street locations. Order your choice of organic greens (romaine, mixed, or spinach), and one of the top-notch tossers will twirl in a variety of toppings, meats, and dressings for a truly personalized bite. View a complete list of possible options here. Not one to discriminate against meals, San Francisco Soup Company also gets the day started with morning tastes from fresh fruit yogurt parfaits to organic steel-cut oatmeal.

The eco-friendly eatery prides itself on sustainability, filling its soup caldrons with locally sourced ingredients and fresh, organic produce. The family-owned restaurant stays true to its values with practices such as food-scrap composting and using biodegradable takeout packaging (made from potatoes, corn, and sugar cane). Soup helps to slow down speedy eaters and brings back the childhood comfort of homemade spoon nosh.
