The Russian Favorites are coming, courtesy of the San Francisco Symphony, conductor Edwin Outwater and award-winning piano prodigy Conrad Tao, who’s finally reached the ripe old age of 21 after more than a decade in the international spotlight. One of America’s most exciting young musicians and composers, Tao returns to the San Francisco Symphony to show off his “fiery panache” (The New York Times) and “aggressive charm (with) flashes of genuine wisdom” (New York Magazine). The passionate program features works by famed Russian composers like Rachmaninoff and Rimsky-Korsakov, along with the lesser-known but no less talented Anatoly Liadov and Alexander Mosolov. It all builds to a finale featuring selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
