The works of one of history’s greatest composers, Ludwig van Beethoven, come to vivid life in this concert from the San Francisco Symphony, featuring violinist Liza Ferschtman. After studying under Haydn in Vienna, the young Beethoven announced himself with his First Symphony, and while it shows Mozart and Haydn’s influence, it also bears the first hints of the trailblazing experimentation that would mark the composer’s career. Violinist Liza Ferschtman – a recipient of the Dutch Music Prize, the Netherlands’ highest accolade – is known for her acclaimed recording of Beethoven’s works. She’ll join conductor Edwin Outwater and the orchestra at Davies Symphony Hall for his French-influenced Violin Concerto in D Major.
