What You'll Get
Wine and fine food is a matched pair, like Cagney and Lacey or Wayne Gretzky and the only thing people remember about hockey. Slapstick your face with flavor using today's Groupon at Sand Castle Winery, located in Erwinna. Founded by Slovakian wine makers in the '80s, Sand Castle Winery makes all its wines from 100% vinifera grapes planted in the bountiful Delaware River region, with a 7,000-square foot wine cellar and castle that overlooks its fermented dominion. This deal gets you an extensive two-hour tour of Sand Castle Winery's facility and vineyards, where you'll get to sample the palate-pleasing wines, enjoy food pairings such as cheeses, herbs, and chocolates, and explore the castle, with its 15-mile views, 30-feet underground wine cellar, and Silvan Elves manning the north tower with bows at the ready. Tours are led by winemaker Joseph Maxian and other Sandcastle winemakers, who use insightful information with a dash of wit to elucidate how their grapes become wines like the subtly sweet 2004 Johannisberg Riesling or the strawberry-tinged 2006 Pinot Noir.

About Sand Castle Winery
Planted by hand in the 1980's, 56,000 special seedlings spiral toward the sun, spawning bundles of grapes that wait to be plucked and transformed into casks of delicious libations. The owners of the elegant winery and castle welcome guests to absorb the sight of the scenic vineyard, and step into the cool, climate-controlled cellar, before heading to the tasting room to sample wine. Large tasting rooms and an outdoor pavilion can also host private events on the regal grounds.
