A Chat with Sandy Tails K9 Adventures
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our group hikes are as mentally stimulating as they are fun. With 1.5 hours of trail time, they can run, hike, play, and swim with other canine pals on different trails around the south shore. Group hikes are less stressful than dog daycares and offer more freedom than the traditional dog walking.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Working at daycares, I found a lot of dogs were stressed and overwhelmed with the amount of dogs in confined areas. Group hikes of two to four dogs let dogs socialize in a stress-free, open environment with more individual attention.
What do you love most about your job?
It mixes two of my favorite things in the world: dogs and hiking! I try to match the energy level in the groups I make and take that into consideration when choosing the difficulty level of trails to take. Nothing is better than spending my days with my furry friends and Mother Nature!
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
My customers have been surprised to find that once I pick up their dog, they are with me for at least two hours during pickup, trail time, and drop-off. Pups are always exhausted by the time they get home and are happy, relaxed, and calm when their owners get home! A tired dog is a good dog!
