Hardworking elves transform a quiet boutique into a bustling holiday village for Santa at River Park, an annual event for photo ops with the jolly mirthmaker himself. From November 25 until Christmas Eve, Santa poses for portraits, boasting a generous heart and genuine bushy facial hair immune to de-bearding by suspicious children. Helpers snap high-quality digital photos of Kriss Kringle’s lap visitors, capturing the moments when kids whisper their gift requests or petitions for public office into his ear. Afterward, families receive ten photos of their progeny’s Christmas experiences, complete with a special gift frame and a photo CD.
The village stays open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. each weekday, and fosters cheer from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the weekends. In the Christmas village, pint-size eyes can gape at an immense lego display or chase after magical disappearing snowballs that fall from the sky, or marvel over Santa’s jet-powered sleigh, his pipe collection, and one of Rudolph’s antlers in the new Santa’s North Pole Treasures exhibit. Parents can also bring their shopping haul and purchase on-site gift wrapping, snag new gewgaws at specialty shops dotting the village, or recruit reindeer babysitters.
